DR ÖMER BATIN GÖZÜBÜYÜK

Specialist Sports & Exercise Physician (FACSEP)  

Ömer’s interest in the utilization of ultrasound in sports medicine practice led him to do post-graduate training in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound. He is also a firm believer in exercise therapy as the primary therapeutic approach in the majority of conditions and enjoys a more holistic approach to musculoskeletal complaints.

Ömer also has training and expertise in a variety of injection therapies such as neural therapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), prolotherapy, and other new forms of treatments such as high-volume injections for tendon pain or hydro-dissection for nerve pain.


 

Laura Mackenzie

Physiotherapist & Clinical Exercise Classes

Laura gained her bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) from the University of Canberra, with a thesis topic of "Shoulder Injuries Related to Vaccine Administration (SIRVA)". She plans to complete a PhD in this area over the coming years. She also holds a Bachelors of Psychological Science from La Trobe University.

Laura has spent over 2 decades as a gymnast, and gymnastics coach. She finished her coaching career as WAG head coach of her club in 2018, prior to moving to Canberra to pursue Physiotherapy.

She is interested in both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, uses hands on techniques as well as implementing appropriate exercise rehabilitation.


 

Lee Poole

Physiotherapist & Clinical Exercise Classes

Lee has completed a Masters in Physiotherapy and a Bachelor of Health Science (majors in health science & nutrition). He has a broad scope of experience working in aged care settings, community health promotion, hospital rehabilitation, private practice and strength and conditioning with gyms and senior sporting clubs. Lee promotes the importance of both hands on treatment techniques and evidence based clinical exercise practice.


Gary Cheung

Physiotherapist & Clinical Exercise Classes

Gary graduated from La Trobe University with a Masters of Physiotherapy Practice and Bachelor of Health Science in 2016. Since graduation he has spent 3 years working in aged care promoting healthy ageing and the last year in private practice treating musculoskeletal and sports injuries. 

He has extended his skills by completing post graduate courses including dry needling, kinesiotaping and the GLA:D program. 

He addresses the underlying causes of his client’s conditions and believes in empowering them through education and self-management strategies. He aims to combine manual therapy techniques with specific exercise programming for clients of all ages. 

Gary has a strong interest in sporting, powerlifting and gym injuries. He is a qualified personal trainer and enjoys fitness coaching as a side passion. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, listening to podcasts and keeping up to date with the most recent research on health and fitness.

Laura Parlby

Physiotherapist

Laura has 10 years’ of physiotherapy experience in private practices in both Brisbane and Melbourne. She has extended her skills with a number of post graduate courses including dry needling, kinesiotaping, and vestibular/vertigo treatment and incorporates these in a holistic treatment approach. Her interests in treating sports injuries for acute management and rehabilitation to prevent recurrences offers her clients long term success. Laura's love for treating injuries and rehabilitation arose from personal injuries through a 12 year career of competitive gymnastics. This experience helps keep patients on the court, field, pitch or what ever sport it may be .

Andrew Wigg

Physiotherapist

Andrew is a senior Physiotherapist with over 30 years experience in the field. His clinical experience includes working with professional sports including AFL, SEABL, NBL, A-League, rowing and sailing. He now uses all the experience helping amateur athletes and weekend warriors of all abilities overcome their injuries. This includes an all-inclusive approach to preventing further injury. Andrew is married with three children, loves playing golf, cycling and supporting his much-loved Hawthorn Football Club.


Karl Freeman

Holistic Chiropractor

Karl is a sports chiropractor who diagnoses, treats and prevents musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those related to athletes and sports activities. As a strength athlete of 8 years and a fully qualified strength and conditioning coach, Karl believes the best approach to healthcare requires a combination of manual therapy which may include gentle chiropractic techniques, dry needling and or massage (He has also done a remedial massage course) as well as a proper exercise prescription and program to get patients feeling strong, robust and mobile again. Karl believes that an active & holistic approach is always better than a passive & inactive approach when it comes to healthcare. 

Karl believes in the 80/20 approach to healthcare which is 20% of the time we should be giving pain relief to patients in the form of manual therapy and 80% of the healthcare should be dedicated to reclaiming lost function of the human body with exercise. 


Ryan Brook

Exercise Scientist / Personal Trainer

Ryan completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at ACU in 2020 and is now working towards finishing a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology. He has worked as an exercise scientist/ personal trainer for over 4 years and has a wide scope of experience across community, sporting and private health settings. Ryan has enjoyed working alongside general population, NDIS clients, athletes, elderly, youth and clients referred to complete prehab/ post-rehab. Ryan is passionate about seeing his clients reach their fitness goals through functional and evidence informed exercise practice.

Nick Meffin

Knee and Lower limb Physio

Nick combines evidence-based medicine in combination with clinical art. He has completed two Post Graduate Masters in Physiotherapy and is interested in the specialist physiotherapist pathway. Nick uses a hands on approach in combination with exercise based medicine. This includes shockwave therapy, dry needling, manipulation and soft tissue mobilisation. He is passionate about knee injuries, especially post operative ligament repairs and is currently working with the Kilysth Cobras in the NBL1
